Cyber Innovation Center
The Cyber Innovation Center is collaborating with Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) to advance girls’ development in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The Cyber Innovation Center will support building girl’s confidence and competency in STEM, as well as teach them about the importance of STEM and Cyber Security in today’s society.
For more than a century, GSUSA has prepared girls to lead. According to the Girl Scout Research Institute study How Girl Scout STEM Programs Benefit Girls (PDF), 77 percent of girls say that, because of Girl Scouts, they’re considering a career in technology. Additionally, compared to other girls, girls who participate in Girl Scouts are more interested in exploring STEM activities and taking more STEM-related classes in school. The Cyber Innovation Center is dedicated to supporting GSUSA as it prepares girls for a lifetime of leadership in STEM fields.

The Cyber Innovation Center (CIC) is the anchor of the National Cyber Research Park and serves as the catalyst for the development and expansion of a knowledge-based workforce and fosters collaboration among its partners and accelerates technology, research, and development. One of its primary missions is to develop a sustainable knowledge-based workforce that can support the growing needs of government, industry, and academia. In 2010, the Cyber Innovation Center created the National Integrated Cyber Education Research Center (NICERC) to advance its academic outreach and workforce development programs. NICERC is designed to promote a culture of innovation across K-12 education; to develop the nation’s cyber workforce through the creation and enhancement of STEM and cyber educational opportunities for teachers and students; and to create and nationally disseminate innovative practices in education.
