Congratulations to the winners of the “Girl Scouts to the Moon and Back” essay contest!
In early 2022, GSUSA sponsored the “Girl Scouts to the Moon and Back” essay contest to give Girl Scouts a chance to win a Space Science badge that’s actually been to space on NASA’s Artemis I. That mission is NASA’s first step toward the goal of sending the first woman and the first person of color to the moon.
We’re so excited to now announce the winners of the contest. See below for winners’ names for each Girl Scout level. The Artemis I is planned for launch sometime after September 19, 2022,* so winners will have to wait a bit to receive their prize—but we think it will be worth the wait!
In the meantime, you can follow along and participate in Artemis I activities before, during, and after the launch:
- For a chance to be featured on Girl Scout social channels, share your photos, videos, and stories by tagging @girlscouts or emailing.
- Visit the NASA Artemis I blog for all the latest news about the mission and launch—the launch date could change right up until the very last minute, so keep checking!
- Follow and engage with NASA on social media @NASAArtemis, using hashtag #Artemis.
- Watch livestreams of Artemis I events—including the mission launch!—on NASA TV.
- Sign up for Artemis I-related STEM activities, content, and events.
*The Artemis I launch schedule is subject to change, which could affect prize availability or timeline for distribution.
