Riley's Way Call for Kindness
Award:
The Call For Kindness is our annual open grant call where high school and college students (ages 13-23) who have an idea to make a difference in the world can get up to $5,000 in seed funding, a year-long professional development Fellowship, and 1:1 project support to help them implement it. Fellows also get full funding to attend an in-person leadership retreat with their cohort of 80-100 other Fellows. Projects can tackle anything from prevailing social justice issues to pressing community-based needs. It can be a new or existing youth-led project. In addition to the General category, 10 of the 40 projects will be focused on Education Equity, and there are other special categories in Dance & the Arts, Interfaith Connections, and A Kinder World to Animals. Applications are open now through March 25, 2024.
Requirements:
Applicants must be US citizens or DACA recipients and between the ages of 13 and 19. Applicants can apply as individuals or in a group (no limit on group size).

West Point: The SLE 2023 Experience
Award:
Led by current cadets, Summer Leaders Experience (SLE) is a week-long immersion into the academic, military, and social life of a West Point cadet. At SLE, you will explore West Point from all angles, including our high-tech educational facilities, team-building athletic activities, and realistic military training. SLE gives you a taste of the character, determination, commitment to excellence, and leadership required to be a cadet at the U.S. Military Academy (USMA).
West Point offers at least one merit-based and unlimited need-based scholarships for Gold Award Girl Scouts who are accepted into their SLE (Summer Leadership Experience).
Requirements:
To be considered to attend the Summer Leaders Experience, students are required to complete our application screening tool, the Candidate Questionnaire; please keep in mind that completing the Candidate Questionnaire is not an obligation to attend West Point, but it will keep the option open during your college search.

Applicants must:
be a high school junior (current year).
be a US citizen.
reach the age of 17 by 1 July during your applying year to West Point.
have no serious medical issues.
There are only 1100 slots and entry into the SLE program is highly competitive. The average attendee:
has the following test* score range:
SAT 1200-1300.
ACT 26-30.
is in the top 20% of their class.
is a member of the National Honor Society.
participates in high school clubs.
participates in extracurricular leadership activities
is in very good physical condition, a varsity letter winner, and/or team captain.
If you don't fit all of these categories, you should STILL APPLY. If your dream is to attend the United States Military Academy and become an Army officer, you have to try!
Many who attend SLE ultimately end up joining the Long Gray Line.
*Standardized test scores are not required but the ideal applicant has a strong academic background and participates in team sports and other extracurricular activities.
