Tall Ship Sailing School: July 20-August 3, 2024

Set sail with the crew of the U.S. Brig Niagara, the largest wooden sailing ship in the United States, as you explore the beauty and majesty of Lake Erie.

About the Trip

Step back in time to the 1800s as you board the Niagara, a U.S. Coast Guard certified Sailing School Vessel, as a trainee. Raise and lower the billowing sails, eat meals from the ship’s galley, sleep in a hammock below deck, and keep lookout with the crew. By becoming an active part of the crew, you’ll learn the skills of traditional square-rig seamanship through sailing, maintaining, and living on the ship.

The Niagara is a reconstructed nineteenth-century two-masted, square-rigged vessel—think pirate ship! It is not a luxury sightseeing cruise. You must be an adventure-seeker who is excited to live, learn, and work as a member of a team. You’ll make new friends that last a lifetime as you become an integral part of the team helping the ship make her way from port to port.
