The human-animal connection goes back over 15,000 years. In the early days, animals mostly kept people safe and helped them with chores, such as farming. Today, they do much more! Animals do search–and–rescue jobs to help people in trouble. They provide love and emotional support to boost our mental health. They also work as support companions for people with physical challenges. In return, we must do everything we can to support animals – they can’t speak for themselves, so it’s up to us to speak for them. In the Cadette Girl Scout Animal Helpers badge, you’ll learn how to help the creatures that help us.
