U.S. Department of Justice - Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP)

OJJDP is funding our outreach to Hispanic communities through our VIVA program. In addition, OJJDP funding has enabled us to build three key programs that serve girls in non-traditional settings. The first, Girl Scouts Beyond Bars, facilitates prison visits for girls who have mothers in prison, to establish and strengthen the mother-daughter bond. The second, Girl Scouts in Detention Centers, gives girls in Detention Centers a chance to participate in Girl Scouting as a way of boosting their self-esteem and confidence. The third is PAVE (Project Anti-Violence Education) which is teaching girls how to reduce their involvement in violent behavior.
