Girl Scouts of the USA's strategic partnership with Mutual of America, a firm dedicated to helping individuals meet their long-term financial objectives, is enabling girls around the country to gain and exercise financial literacy skills.

Through the multi-year curricula, girls learn and implement key concepts and skills related to personal money management. Statistics show that, at some point in their lives, 90% of all women will have sole responsibility for their financial self-sufficiency. It is crucial that girls and young women harness their ability to earn income, become responsible consumers, create and manage a personal budget, and save and invest for the future.

The Penny Project is Girl Scouts' financial literacy curriculum for Brownies, girls ages 6-8. The Penny Project Kit takes an interactive approach to helping girls understand principles of money management and correlating responsibilities. Funded by Mutual of America, The Kit includes an activity booklet, council guide, adult guide, game board, game cards, and three posters.

The CentsAbility curriculum assists girls ages 8-14 in developing important financial skills, including: personal money management, investing and entrepreneurship. As girls explore the relationship between lifestyle and occupational choices and imagine themselves as adults, they learn the all-important balancing act between income and expenses as they create and balance their budgets.

Got Money? A Saving & Investing Booklet for Girls Ages 11-17, also available in a Spanish-language edition, encourages girls to develop a financial strategy early. Got Money? takes 'tween and teen girls step-by-step through the entire process of saving and investing.
