In the early 1970s, wildlife enthusiast Herford N. Elliott established the Herford N. Elliott Charitable Trust and named Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) as a beneficiary. In 1977, GSUSA formed the Elliott Wildlife Values Project. Since then, the Elliott Wildlife Values Project has instilled girls with a lifelong commitment to the environment and wildlife conservation, thanks to Herford Elliott's vision.
Through the generosity of the trust, Girl Scouts have the opportunity to have hands-on nature experiences.
