World Thinking Day 2006 February 22, 2006 The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) has announced that the 2006 World Thinking Day theme will be Adolescent Health Issues Worldwide. This is an opportunity for girls in the United States and in overseas locations to learn about global health issues that affect girls and young women. Girl Scouts are encouraged to engage in projects and activities that increase awareness of adolescent health issues in their councils, schools, and communities. At the 32nd WAGGGS World Conference, held in Amman, Jordan, a new tagline, “girls worldwide say,” was launched as part of WAGGGS new image. Seven key messages were presented as part of the launch, derived from the results of a global survey on adolescent health issues. The seven messages are:
Building on these seven messages, WAGGGS is urging its member organizations to help focus attention on these important issues. This World Thinking Day is an opportunity to start raising awareness of adolescent health issues in your community. As you celebrate World Thinking Day this year, remember there are girls around the world celebrating with you. Have a wonderful and enriching celebration!
