Whether you are moving across the country or around the world, Girl Scouts is here to lend a hand. Relocating can be stressful, but Girl Scouting can provide girls who are moving the familiarity of something they've grown up with and help them adjust to their new home and surroundings. Below you'll find Girl Scout resources and guides to make the move easier.

For Parents

If you're moving from the U.S. to another country and have a daughter in Girl Scouting, your first step is to complete the Let's Get Movin' Form (abroad) (Word doc, 163KB) and send it to USA Girl Scouts Overseas. If you cannot access the form, contact USAGSO at overseas@girlscouts.org and we will notify your new location of your impending arrival. If a girl has never been a Girl Scout, joining would be a great way for her to meet other girls in her new home.

If you are moving from state to state or back to the U.S. from another country, complete the Let's Get Movin' Form (to/within the U.S.) (Word doc, 163KB) and send it to Girl Scouts of the USA Information and Referral Center at members@girlscouts.org or call (800) GSUSA 4 U [(800) 478-7248] or (212) 852-8000. A representative will provide you with the information you need to continue or join Girl Scouting in the U.S. through a local Girl Scout council.

For Girls

The following relocation resources for girls are available through Girl Scouts of the USA.

Let's Get Movin' Booklet: New Address... New Friends

Designed to help children ages 5-10 become more comfortable with a new locale, new culture, and new friends, this 32-page book is filled with activities and exercises to help ease fears about moving while encouraging kids to express their innermost feelings about relocating. To allow girls to get involved in moving, the book includes a form for recording friends' addresses, a map for tracing the move, and simple word and picture games. Item #26141.

Let's Get Movin' Booklet: Across the State or Around the World

Focuses on preteens and teens ages 11-17 and their specific relocation needs. Readers can find advice about dealing with their feelings, suggestions to organize the move, ways to learn about a new school, tips on how to make new friends, methods of managing money—in short, everything they need to get comfortable in their new home and community. A separate section covers the intricacies of international relocation: pre-departure planning, overseas school considerations, and repatriation details. The "Directory of Internet Sites" helps readers research locations anywhere in the world and find expert advice and guidance specifically for teens. Item #26142.

Let's Get Movin' Patch
