Membership Implementation Specialist Summary of Position The Membership Implementation Specialist delivers products/services to councils that build and retain girl and adult membership. The incumbent is the main point of contact for councils providing in-depth support in membership strategies with regard to recruitment and retention of adults and girls, the building and sustaining of multiculturalism and inclusion, and the volunteer development systems to implement to national program tied to leadership outcomes. Using Pathways and SES strategies as a base, this function further develops approaches and materials that local councils can utilize to reach and/or expand into markets not currently served or that are underserved. In addition to nurturing partnerships with councils, the incumbent works closely with other key Mission to Market units to provide technical expertise, direct training, consultation and dissemination of learning on membership strategies that directly support membership and volunteerism goals. The incumbent communicates membership and GSLE best practices via monthly webinars, regional conferences and training for councils. For councils with specific needs, the incumbent will provide on-site consulting. Approximately 50-70% of this position’s time focuses on conferring with councils, organizing, communicating and providing information out to councils via all available technologies as well as responding to council inquiries. To achieve consistency of results, she/he strives to deliver uniform messages, and practical, tested materials and, whenever possible, utilize council’s own best practices for nationwide viewing local achievements and results. The position facilitates peer-to-peer learning across councils. The other 30-50% of the consultant’s time is focused on developing and delivering specialized projects to councils, as assigned; these projects will foster membership growth by building collaborations and partnerships, assisting councils with regional or national events, developing local expertise in inclusivity of specific populations, e.g., disabilities, rural girls, detention center girls, public housing populations, etc. Job Qualifications Minimum 5 years' experience in a youth-focused or membership organization or related content area preferred, especially in recruiting and retaining membership. Experience in developing membership strategies and tactical plans to help increase membership, expanding into markets not served or underserved. High level analytical skills that support the translation of demographic and membership data to easily understood statements on status of membership, potential, future visioning, etc. Proven project management skills with experience taking a plan from strategy to implementation. Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Proven expertise reading and/or writing Spanish fluently would be desirable. Excellent platform skills and experience to make presentations and conduct trainings for diverse audiences. Strong computer skills and high level of proficiency with Excel, Access and other Microsoft Office Suite software with emphasis of integration of technology. Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated expertise providing customer service with a high degree of timeliness and responsiveness to both the girls and the volunteers. Demonstrated experience working in a highly collaborative environment. Depending on the project, works as either a Project Leader or project team member. Travel up to 50% of the time involving day trips, overnight travel and on weekends when required. Valid driver’s license to drive to various geographic locations. Bachelor’s degree in youth development, organizational development, or related area, or equivalent relevant experience. EOE/Committed to Diversity
