Manager of Volunteer Systems Summary of Position The Manager of Volunteer Systems will build the national framework for the recruitment, retention and training of volunteers and will create the adult volunteer development strategies, structures and models to enable a highly effective, comprehensive volunteerism system in Girl Scout councils. The position provides leadership for the development of the framework and advises on the structure and application of the volunteer system and structures. The position is responsible for defining the types of supporting resources and knowledge sharing required for our local chapters to work with volunteers and utilize the volunteer support structures. S/He defines the support environment, including: policies, screening procedures for volunteers, the volunteer learning cycle and, from an organizational design perspective, optimum volunteer and staffing structures. S/he works closely with the Membership Innovation & Capacity Development Leader to ensure pilots implement all steps and have the necessary support resources. S/he documents pilot learning and evaluates the success of the new volunteer development and delivery system. Working in partnership with the Director-Membership Resources, the Membership Innovation & Capacity Development Leader, the Director-Inclusive Membership Strategy Implementation, and the Director, Strategic Analysis, the incumbent ensures that relevant learning from pilots is appropriately integrated in all resources, communications, and consulting to local chapters. Job Qualifications • Minimum 7 years experience in a membership or youth service organization with proven experience in developing membership strategies for recruiting and retaining members, particularly for multicultural environments. • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing volunteer and diversity resource tools. • Field experience accountable for implementing national, standardized programs. Girl Scout experience a plus. • Demonstrated project management skills including developing strategic plans and driving them through to execution with emphasis on managing a top-tier national initiative. • Demonstrated in managing multiple projects simultaneously with changing priorities and tight deadlines. • Demonstrated experience establishing, building, and maintaining relationships in a consulting role. • Demonstrated experience analyzing and synthesizing data trends and anecdotal information. • Proven written/verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, as well as demonstrated platform and facilitation skills. • Demonstrated experience working in a highly collaborative environment. • Proven expertise using current technology with an understanding of how to engage volunteers and girls through appropriate use of technology. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and presentation technologies, including e-learning. • Demonstrated expertise providing customer service with a high degree of timeliness and responsiveness to both the girls and the volunteers. • Travel up to 50% including day trips, overnight and weekend trips as required. • Valid driver’s license to drive to various geographic locations. • Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, organizational development or related fields, or equivalent relevant experience. Post graduate coursework in Marketing, Public or Business Administration or related area preferred. EOE/Committed to Diversity
