Promising Practices: Research with NCWIT and Motorola Promising Practices: Research with NCWIT and Motorola
National Center for Women and IT (NCWIT) Girl Scouts of the USA and the National Center for Women and IT (NCWIT) recognize that information technology is changing the world. Unlike anything since the printing press, IT is revolutionizing the way we work, play, communicate, and learn. Because so few women are inventing the technology upon which our society increasingly depends, we cannot know what problems they would solve or what products they would conceive. From both an innovation and workforce perspective, girls' and women's continued absence in IT has major repercussions for our country's preparedness, competitiveness, economic wellbeing, and quality of life. Learn more about our research with the National Center for Women and IT on promising practices in informal IT education for girls.
Motorola Foundation Girl Scouts of the USA and Motorola share a vision: Girls across the country and around the world are the future experts needed in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This vision led to joint efforts to conduct research on the most promising practices related to informal educational programming that inspires and ignites the imaginations of girls. As more girls are interested and engaged in STEM fields throughout their youth, more girls will go on to pursue careers that use STEM to solve the challenges the world faces.
