Where to Place Insignia on a Uniform
Junior Girl Scouts (Ages 8-11)

1. Girl Scout Junior Insignia Tab - Green

Official Girl Scout Junior Insignia Tab of green grosgrain ribbon. World Trefoil Pin and Girl Scout Pins shown on tab are sold separately.

2. World Trefoil Pin (WAGGGS pin)

The Word Trefoil Pin Shows that you are part of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). All Girl Scouts wear this pin on the left side of the uniform directly above the Membership Pin on the Insignia Tab.

3. Official Girl Scout Contemporary Membership Pin

This pin, worn by Junior Girl Scouts, Girl Scouts 11-17 and Adult Girl Scouts. signifies fulfillment of membership requirements. It is worn on the Insignia Tab on the left side of the uniform, centered above the heart. Safety Catch Pin.

4. Bronze Award Pin

The Girl Scout Bronze Award Pin is the highest award for Junior Girl Scouts and signifies completion of a Bronze Award project. (Contact your local Girl Scout council for further information).

5. Membership Numeral Guards

The numerals show the total number of years of registered membership, both as a girl and an adult, in any Girl Scout/Girl Guide organization. Numeral Guards are attached to the Official Girl Scout Membership Pins (regular or miniature size), and are placed to the right of the pin on clothing or on the insignia tab.

6a. Sign of the Rainbow

Place the Sign of the Rainbow, Sign of the Sun, Sign of the Star, and Sign of the World in two rows, with Sign of the Rainbow and Sign of the Satellite on the right. Wear them centered horizontally directly below the Brownie Girl Scout Wings on the sash, or directly below the membership tab on the left side of the Junior Girl Scout vest.

Official Junior Girl Scout Earned Badge. Girl Scout earned awards are recognized symbols of achievement and excellence. Most Badge Award requirements are in the Official Junior Girl Scout Badge Book. 6c. Sign of the Star

Place the Sign of the Rainbow, Sign of the Sun, Sign of the Star, and Sign of the World in two rows, with Sign of the Rainbow and Sign of the Satellite on the right. Wear them centered horizontally directly below the Brownie Girl Scout Wings on the sash, or directly below the membership tab on the left side of the Junior Girl Scout vest.

7. Girl Scout Cookie Sale Activity Pin 2010

The sale pin is an earned award that is worn to show participation in the Girl Scout Cookie Sale after completing participation activities outlined in the Cookie Sale Activity Guide. The pin(s) are awarded each year in a different color. The 2010 Pin is Hot Pink Enamel on Brassl. Clutchback. Made in the USA. Additional Cookie Sale Resources

Daisies: Place the pin(s) in a row directly beneath Troop Numerals on the tunic or vest.

Brownies: Place the pin(s) in a row above the Try-its on the sash or on the left side of the vest.

Juniors: Place the pin(s) directly above the Junior Girl Scout badges on the sash, or below the signs on the vest.

Girl Scouts 11-17: Place the pin(s) in a row above the Girl Scout Interest Project awards on the insignia sash, or above the Interest Project awards on the left side of the vest.

 

8. Junior Journey Award Patch

Iron-on patch set of three circles with the words: "Energize, Investigate, and Innovate." Earned Award.

9. Girl Scout Junior Badges

Official Junior Girl Scout Earned Badge. Girl Scout earned awards are recognized symbols of achievement and excellence. Most Badge Award requirements are in the Official Junior Girl Scout Badge Book. 10. Junior Leadership Pin

The Junior Girl Scout Leadership Pin indicates leadership roles assumed at the Junior Girl Scout age-level. Wear this pin on the sash above the Junior Girl Scout badges or on the right side of the vest. Requirements for earning this award can be found in the Junior Handbook.

11. Brownie Girl Scout Wings

Brownie Girl Scout Wings show that a girl has completed her years as a Brownie. She is ready to "fly up" to Junior Girl Scouting. This is a tradition that goes back to when Brownie Girl Scout leaders were called Brown Owls. The wings are worn on the Junior sash or vest, centered horizontally directly under the Junior Aide Award, or if she does not have that, directly under the Bridge to Junior Award. The Brownie Wings are worn on the Girls 11-17 vest or sash directly under the Membership Stars and Personalized ID Pin. The Brownie Girl Scout Wings are often given at year-end award ceremonies.

12. Junior Aide Award

The Junior Aide Award represents active assistance as a Junior Girl Scout, helping Brownie Girl Scouts bridge to Junior Girl Scouting. Only Junior Girl Scouts can wear it. Place this award directly beneath the Bridge to Junior Girl Scouts Award. Requirements for earning this award can be found in the Junior Handbook.

13. Bridge to Junior Girl Scouts Award

Moving from one Girl Scout age level to another is called bridging. The Bridging Award is earned by completing a set of activities described in the Girl Scout handbooks. These activities help a girl learn about the next age level they are entering. Bridge to Junior Girl Scouts is worn on the Junior sash or vest directly under the Membership Stars.

14. Safety Award for Junior Girl Scouts

The Safety Award Pin signifies work done in safety education. (Contact your local Girl Scout council for further information).

15. Junior Disc for Membership Star

Each membership star stands for one year of registration. Place the stars directly beneath the troop/group numerals on the sash or the right side of the vest, beginning with the Girl Scout Daisy star (on BLUE disc) on the right side, then Girl Scout Brownie stars (on GREEN discs), Girl Scout Junior stars (on YELLOW discs), Girl Scout Cadette stars (on WHITE discs), and Girl Scout Senior stars (on RED discs), Girl Scout Ambassador stars (on BLUE discs).

16. Official Girl Scout Membership Star

Each membership star stands for one year of registration. Place the stars directly beneath the troop/group numerals on the sash or the right side of the vest, beginning with the Girl Scout Daisy star (on BLUE disc) on the right side, then Girl Scout Brownie stars (on GREEN discs), Girl Scout Junior stars (on YELLOW discs), Girl Scout Cadette stars (on WHITE discs), Girl Scout Senior stars (on RED discs) and Girl Scout Ambassador stars (on BLUE discs).

17. Disc for Membership Star

Each membership star stands for one year of registration. Place the stars directly beneath the troop/group numerals on the sash or the right side of the vest, beginning with the Girl Scout Daisy star (on BLUE disc) on the right side, then Girl Scout Brownie stars (on GREEN discs), Girl Scout Junior stars (on YELLOW discs), Girl Scout Cadette stars (on WHITE discs), and Girl Scout Senior stars (on RED discs), Girl Scout Ambassador stars (on BLUE discs).

18. Iron-on Troop Numeral

Official Girl Scout Troop Numerals are purchased per digit and put together to create your full troop number. Girl Scout Troop Numerals are worn by Junior Girl Scouts and Girl Scouts 11-17. Green Felt. Numbers 0-9. Iron-On.

19. Troop Crests

The Troop Crest is chosen by a Girl Scout troop. The crests are worn by Junior, Cadette, and Senior Girl Scouts. Center the troop crest directly under the council identification strip.

20. Iron-on Girl Scout Council Identification

The council identification strip set includes your council name and Official Girl Scouts of the USA identification strip. The two are worn together on the front of the Official Junior and Girl 11-17 Girl Scout vest or sash. The strips are Iron-on for easy application.

21. Iron-on Wavy American Flag Patch

American Flag Patch represents the USA flag in a wavy fabric design. Official and embroidered in red, white and blue. It is an optional patch that can be worn by all Girl Scouts on their vest, sash or tunic. Daisy Girl Scouts may wear the flag patch on the right shoulder of the tunic. All others may wear the flag patch above the Girl Scout Council ID set on the sash or vest. Imported.

22. Patrol Leader's Cord

This emblem designates a leadership position in the troop or group and is worn only when holding that position. Make the cord circle the left arm, and pin it at the shoulder seam of the uniform blouse or turtleneck. Available September 15.

23. Girl Scout Junior Bronze Award Emblem Patch

The Girl Scout Bronze Award Emblem is unofficial: not to be worn on the front of recognition sash or vest. 3" round.

24. Participation Patches and Pins

Place participation patches and pins on the back of the sash or vest, beginning at the top, below the shoulder line. These patches and pins may be from camp, special events, or programs such as GirlSports or Issues for Girl Scouts. Patches/pins earned at an earlier age-level can be placed on the back of the sash, but it is not recommended, as you will soon run out of space!

25. Religious Awards and Other Awards

Wear these awards in a single horizontal row on the right side of the uniform blouse, level with the Girl Scout Membership Pin, or on the insignia sash in the area below the membership stars or troop numerals and above the next insignia already on the sash.

Note: Wear only three such awards at a time to avoid a cluttered shirt or uniform. Choose to wear those that are most meaningful to you.

Such special awards might include:

  • Girl Scout Bronze Award
  • International Friendship Recognition Pin (earned as a Girl Scout in USA Girl Scouts Overseas). Note: Although this pin can be earned in more than one country, a girl wears only one pin.
  • Juliette Low World Friendship Pin (given to any girl or adult who has participated in an international opportunity funded by the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund)
  • Lifesaving awards
  • Macy Pin (given to those who participate in a learning event at Girl Scouts of the USA's Edith Macy Conference Center)
  • Pins designating attendance at World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts centers and national or international events
  • The President's Volunteer Service Award
  • Religious awards
  • Safety Award for Girls 11-17
