NEW YORK — Minneapolis-based Manhattan Toy is teaming up with Girl Scouts of the USA, the world's preeminent leadership development organization dedicated solely to girls, to design a spirited, funky and confident line of Groovy Girls dolls and accessories — a widely acclaimed family of soft dolls that help girls celebrate personal style, diversity and the power of friendship — inspired by the Girls Scout mission to build girls' of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
Hugh Kennedy, Vice President of Business Development with Manhattan Toy, said, "We're proud to partner with such a recognized and respected organization as Girl Scouts of the USA to extend our Groovy Girls brand in a manner that coincides with a mutual goal of building girls' courage, confidence and character. Combining Manhattan Toy's reputation for exceptional quality and innovative designs with the Girl Scouts' role as the pre-eminent leadership development organization for girls will result in a collection of dolls and accessories that is sure to connect and inspire girls."
Manhattan Toy and Girl Scouts of the USA have entered into a three-year licensing agreement allowing Manhattan Toy to develop and market a collection of Groovy Girls dolls and accessories for the U.S. market with an anticipated launch date of fall 2007. The Girl Scout Promise and Law provide the inspiration for the initial doll premiere themes — honesty, respect, caring, friendliness, and courage — all color-coded and featuring an award/badge sash. Plans also include three special edition theme sets, doll uniforms and style accessories. All new products will be featured on groovygirls.com.
"We are very excited to be working with Manhattan Toy and their very popular Groovy Girls brand," commented Barry Horowitz, Vice President and General Manager, Girl Scout Merchandise. "This relationship is a perfect fit for our reputation as the organization for the grooviest girls in the world."
