The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes honors outstanding young leaders who have made a significant positive difference to people and our planet through leadership and courage in public service. Girl Scouts are excellent candidates for these awards. Nominations may be made by adults who have solid knowledge of the nominee and his or her work, but who are not related to the nominee. This year's nomination deadline is April 30, 2005.

Each year, the Barron Prize selects 10 winners nationwide who receive $2,000 to support their higher education or their service work. At least one Girl Scout Gold Award winner has been selected to receive this award every year for the past four years.
