Discover the magic of Our Chalet

Discover the magic of the first WAGGGS world center, Our Chalet, as you explore the Swiss Alps and challenge yourself through a variety of outdoor activities. Savor Swiss culture, learn about environmental issues and discover what it means to be a member of the WAGGGS by making new friends in an international Girl Scout and Girl Guide environment.

Picture It

Enjoy an outdoor adventure with 13 other Girl Scouts from all over the United States including a hike along the Engstligen River. Spend a half day at the Reharti Adventure Park where you can try the zip line and climbing wall. Hike to the famous Adelboden Woodcarvers Shop for a unique hand carved souvenir. Take an excursion to a nearby town and sample authentic handmade Swiss chocolates. Ride a funicular up the Niesen and find a geocache, than take a boat trip across Lake Thun to visit a medieval castle or sightsee in the town of Thun.

Be It

  • Girls should be able to hike 3-5 miles per day in altitude of approximately 4000 feet or more over uneven mountain terrain
  • Be comfortable around water
  • Possess excellent teamwork skills
  • Open minded and ready to experience new cultures
  • Able to fly on a plane for over 10 hours
  • Not afraid of heights
  • Embody the Girl Scout promise and law as you represent your council and country at an international event

Plan It

  • June 17–27, 2013; $3,500
    Must be 14–18 years old at the time of the event.

Get It

Each participant must have a valid passport with a minimum of 6 months before expiration at the time of travel.

$ It

A non-refundable deposit of $300 will be due immediately upon acceptance to the event and is part of the event fee, not in addition to it.

Event fee includes all transportation including roundtrip airfare between New York and Norway, 3 meals per day, accommodations all nights, and program fees. Participants are responsible for their transportation costs to and from New York, NY and their own spending money.
