Martha's Vineyard
Martha’s Vineyard: By Land and by Sea

Martha's Vineyard has long been a favorite destination for exploration and recreation. Famous for its beauty and diverse geographical landscape, visitors to the Vineyard quickly become enchanted by "the land beyond the sea beyond the land."

Picture It

Get a taste of the Vineyard and conquer the island by land and sea. Discover native species and ecosystems on a 2-hour naturalist guided kayak trip on Sengekontacket salt pond with the Mass Audubon Society at Felix Neck. From there, head to Edgartown and catch the “On Time Ferry” to Chappaquiddick where a Trustees of the Reservation naturalist will be waiting to pick you up. Join your guide identifying wildlife and conquering the dunes in the back of a comfortably outfitted four wheel drive pick-up truck. End your journey at the Chappy lighthouse and learn about the keepers who watched over the sea for hundreds of years. Be sure to stop and explore the Japanese gardens on your way back!

At night relax at HI-Martha’s Vineyard, winner of Hostelling International’s 2011 HI Five award for friendliest hostel in the world! Meet international travelers while eating fresh pancakes in the morning or on the volleyball court. Troops will have plenty of time to relax at beautiful beaches and explore the villages of the Vineyard at their own pace. HI-Martha’s Vineyard is centrally located, and conveniently situated for car free travelers on the #6 bus route and bike path.
