Asset Management

Property Management and Maintenance

Explore and develop basic knowledge and skills necessary to effectively plan, manage and maintain Girl Scout program and administrative sites and facilities. Course emphasis will be on site and facility management systems that support GSUSA's organizational structure, Core Business Strategy and future vision of the Girl Scout movement. Course topics will include examples of best practices for all types of council facilities, including administrative, program and training.

Who Should Attend
Board members, CEOs, senior management, property directors and volunteers responsible for the planning, budget development, management and operation of council properties.

Finance Measures for High Performance

This course will assist Girl Scout councils in evaluating their finance department and developing a plan to enhance their financial operations. Participants will complete a pre-course assessment utilizing both Girl Scout and not-for-profit industry benchmarks and measures and then create a back-home plan for a high-performing finance office. Participants will also have the opportunity to network with GSUSA staff and other experienced Girl Scout council finance staff as they share their own fiscal management tools and practices. Scholarships for 90% reimbursement of travel and lodging costs are available to participants.

Who Should Attend
CFOs, COOs who oversee finance or the key staff person with oversight responsibility for the finance office. This course is open for councils whose finance departments have been established for at least six months and have either attended or tested out of the Finance Management course.

Finance Management for Girl Scout Councils

This course will provide an introduction to Girl Scout financial guidelines and standards, as well as a variety of fiscal management tools including a review of accounting standards and IRS regulations, internal controls, budget development and reporting and financial report preparation and analysis. Participants will have the opportunity to network with GSUSA staff and other Girl Scout council finance staff. Participants will also learn and share Girl Scout and not-for-profit industry practices for application at the council. Scholarships for 90% reimbursement of travel and lodging costs are available to participants.

Who Should Attend
CFOs, COOs who oversee finance, finance directors, staff accountants, and business managers. The course is recommended for finance staff with less than 12 months of experience in their current position. Finance teams from the same council are encouraged to attend together.
