Summer will sizzle and so does the summer 2004 issue of LEADER magazine.

Read what's happening in the organization to meet the growing demand for Girl Scout activities in Latino communities across the country. As councils and GSUSA spread the word about Girl Scouting among the Hispanic populations in the United States, more and more girls and their families want to become involved. "Girl Scouts and the Hispanic Community" is all about the goals to increase delivery of Girl Scout program to every Latina who wants to be a Girl Scout, and the growth some councils are already experiencing.

What do you say when 11- to 17-year old girls complain, "There's nothing to do around here!"? "Knowing Where She Wants to Go: STUDIO 2BSM destinations" has the perfect answer. STUDIO 2BSM destinations offers girls travel opportunities, with options galore. Find out how to access information, advise girls, and even get involved yourself. You could be going places sooner than you think!

What's doing with the Girl Scout Gold and Silver Awards? Turn to "Making Gold and Silver Dreams Come True" which details revised guidelines for pursuing these awards. The new resources, Go For It! The Girl Scout Gold Award and Go For It! The Girl Scout Silver Award, are published as inserts to the STUDIO 2B planner and are due out this summer.

It can keep 19 Brownie Girl Scouts completely focused for an hour and a half and it's not a computer game. What is it? Scrapbooking. "Sensational Scrapbooking!" explains what transforms this hobby into a rewarding group activity that can accompany many activities. Documenting their fun and accomplishments in a scrapbook helps girls realize just how rewarding the Girl Scout experience is…and this can help support their decisions to stay involved.

Our regular columns tackle a range of topics. The Money Matters column explains charitable contributions through estate planning. And, Leader to Leader provides clever solutions to questions about money-earning for STUDIO 2B destinations and other activities that come with a cost.

The summer 2004 LEADER shimmers with sunny ideas that you can use all year round.
