Alumnae Story
Stepping into Someone Else's Shoes

The project that has always stuck in my mind the most was a service project we did as Junior Girl Scouts.  Remember L'eggs Eggs?  One spring we took a bunch of them and decorated them to donate to the local school for the blind.

We had barely started when we realized that the kids wouldn't be able to see them.  Decorating them with pretty colors as we were used to doing would be worthless.  We needed to decorate them with things that the kids could feel rather than see.

We used fur, feathers, sequins and other items to make them feel as "pretty" as we could.  It was the first time I really stopped and put myself in someone else's shoes to understand a little bit more about their life.

I learned a lot that day and felt like I really made a difference.
