Alumnae Story
Girl Scouting Opens So Many Doors

My mother signed me up in fall '52 and I'm still registered and active. I received the Curved Bar in '62. At that time I was serving on the senior advisory board to American Girl Magazine, traveling regularly into National headquarters, which was on Third Avenue at that time. After marriage, I traveled around the U.S. with an Air Force husband, working in and with nine councils.

I attended an Adult Opportunity at Our Cabaña in '81, and was able to visit Pax Lodge and Our Chalet in '98. In '02 I attended the 90th event held at Madison Square Garden.

I led troops for all three of my daughters and now look forward to being a leader to my granddaughter. It's amazing the "new friends" you find when you are wearing a GS T-shirt in a public place. Girl Scouting opens so many doors.
