Alumnae Story
Singing 'Barges'

I was an Air Force brat and was always moving. At the end of fifth grade, I found out that we would be moving at the end of summer. As my last event with my three best friends, I went to resident camp at Camp Mira Sol (Texas).

It was raining on the last night of camp, but the counselors kept with their tradition of serenading the campers. Donned in rain gear, the counselors were strolling among the cabins and singing. As they passed our cabin, they were singing "Barges." It was the perfect ending to a great week at camp with my friends. To this day, "Barges" is my favorite Girl Scout song.
